COLLINGWOOD PIANO STUDIO POLICIES 2024-25

Tuition

  • Tuition for private lessons during the school year is divided into 10 monthly payments August-May, and is the same regardless of the number of weeks in a month. Tuition includes 32 lessons, Performers Academy classes, and three recital opportunities (two optional, one required.) Students starting mid-month will be prorated for that month only.  Payment is due by the first lesson of each month, and can be paid through Paypal, Venmo, Zelle, check or cash. A $20 late fee will be charged to all accounts not paid by the 15th of the month.

  • Summer tuition is charged per session (price per session is the same as monthly rate during the school year.) Lessons can be prorated during the summer but no make-ups will be offered for cancellations.

  • If you wish to discontinue lessons, a 30-day notice is required. No refunds will be given for unused lessons.

  • If you'd like to meet me or try out a lesson before committing, I offer a one-time, 30-min. consult/demo lesson for $35; this can be applied towards your monthly tuition if you decide to continue, but does not include enrollment fee.

Registration/Enrollment

  • An annual registration fee of $25 per student is due with August’s tuition for continuing and returning students. This reserves your spot, includes studio events and supplies and the recital fee. This fee does not include method books, which students are responsible for purchasing as needed.

  • For new students, an enrollment fee of $50 is due with the first month's tuition. This covers a practice notebook, studio events and supplies, the recital fee, and for beginners, your first set of method books.

Requirements/Practice Expectations

  • A piano or full-size keyboard with weighted keys is required!  A metronome is highly recommended. Weekly practice is expected and students are expected to keep a practice log. Consistency is the most important key to success! 10-15 minutes a day, a few times per week, is sufficient for beginners. Having a parent sit in on practice to make sure they have correct placement on the keys, etc. will be helpful to your beginner. Advanced students with longer pieces will require more practice time.

Missed Lessons, Illness and Makeups

  • Unfortunately I am not able to offer any makeup lessons due to a busy teaching and family schedule. Because specific times are set aside for each student, a student who does not attend a lesson will simply miss the benefit of that time. In the event of inclement weather, a makeup day may be scheduled at my home studio and lessons will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Refunds will only be given if I am unable to teach the promised number of lessons.

  • Please do not attend lessons if anyone in your family has tested positive for covid, or if a student has had fever, flu, or strep symptoms within the past 24 hours. If you need to miss a lesson, please let me know as soon as possible. If your student is feeling well enough for a virtual lesson during their regularly scheduled time, I am happy to offer one via google meet.
